The Transaction Service of Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay, a Mobile Financial Service (MFS), was launched at a grand ceremony held at Begam Rokeya Auditorium Mithapukur, Rangpur on 10th September, 2017. It is the first time that a fully secured MFS using 4th generation technology enters into Bangladesh market.
Mr. Nurul Amin, Managing Director & CEO of Meghna Bank Limited mentioned in his welcome speech that only thirty percent of our population is getting the banking privilege. In this regard mobile
banking can play a vital role to facilitate in banking for the rest seventy percent under-privileged people of our country.
Dr. Kamrul Ahsan, Founder & CEO of Mobility i Tap Pay (Bangladesh) Limited, in his Introductory speech, informed that about 760 crore taka is being transacted daily in Bangladesh through mobile banking. Approximately 45% of the adult population of our country is deprived of banking facilities and Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay aims at bringing the banking service at their doorsteps, Dr. Kamrul emphasized. He also informed that Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay would not stop only by extending the banking facilities to the deprived group but would ensure women empowerment through creation of lacs of agents, most of whom would be women. Our philosophy would be dual income at the grass root levels, he informed.
Dr. Md. Zahir Uddin, Chairman of Mobility i Tap Pay (Bangladesh) Limited expressed that Bangladesh Bank opened the door of financial inclusion through mobile banking by formulating policies on mobile banking in 2010. This has, in addition to serving the common people of the country, increased the financial development of the country to a greater extent, he iterated. He hoped that Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay would contribute immensely to the financial growth of our beloved country.
Hon'ble Chief Guest, State Minister, ICT Division, Ministry of Post, Telecommunications & Information Technology Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP, mentioned in his speech that Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay would definitely play an important role towards the concept of Digital Bangladesh. MFS or mobile banking is such a service which has succeeded in extending banking services to the greater mass of population with very little cost in areas without the presence of bank branch, he mentioned. Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay is a pre-paid card based fully secured MFS, which is pioneer in introducing Chip based NFC Card in Bangladesh, he added.
Mr. H. N. Ashequr Rahman MP, Chairman of Meghna Bank Limited in his thanks giving speech mentioned that Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay service is totally different from the traditional mobile banking services currently in existence in Bangladesh. Launching and introduction of Meghna Bank Tap ‘n Pay into Bangladesh market is a milestone in the field of MFS, he further reiterated. He emphasized that, mobile banking would influence national economic growth through materializing the hopes and aspirations of general population of Bangladesh.
